''Human beings gain their power, passion,
purpose and peace more quickly by
exploring their relationship with tears than any other way. Where your tears
are, and where they have been denied
or taken away from you and held back by
you, that is where the true human heart lives. You are always just one cry away
from love itself.''
Pete van
Dyk, co-founder, Men of Tears
"The history, biology, and development of crying as the highest form of human evolution all come together in its primary function to promote a deeper level of understanding among people. There is no other behavior that facilitates intimacy as quickly, no other form of communication that can so quickly express the essence of human experience." Jeffrey A. Kottler, "The Language of Tears"

(Why Tears? See this page for the big picture)
Men of Tears supports a tear-friendly consciousness that holds all individuals in kindness and positive regard toward coming on more intimate terms with their tears--shed and unshed.
Our communication is founded in Relational Presence, a method of focused attention that makes the room the safest possible place to be oneself without self-consciousness.
The videos with Pete van Dyk linked on the left make clear how re-owning our tears can make a huge difference on the planet, and why the Men of Tears Project is a global movement. The videos discuss the relationship between unshed tears, powerlessness, and the cycle of violence, which starts with boys being taught to stifle our tears and deny our feelings. (How many of us heard the words, "I'll give you something to cry about!")
Mentors of Tears--men and women--are listed on the Tear Guides page.
